Yes, our Shampoo contains ALS. Sulphates are surfactants, used as cleansing agents. The purpose of them in hair care products is to help the shampoo to foam into that lather that we all love when washing our hair. This helps disperse product throughout the hair easily, whilst removing oil, dirt and dead skin cells from your skin and scalp. We wanted to keep these positive effects in our product yet understood that some sulphates can also strip too much oil from your hair and scalp in the process, leaving a dryingeffect. We decided against including the most popular widely used sulphate: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (also known as SLS), and instead we decided to include amuch more gentle surfactant called Ammonium Lauryl Sulphate. This sulphate doesn’t penetrate the skin and hair in the same way SLS does. Where the potential irritancy of water is 0 and that of SLS is 10, ALS scores around 4 –far less irritating than SLS. So Yes, our product does include a sulphate, but one that we feel is there for a good purpose and not something that will cause dryness to your scalp and hair.
